Eltizam commits to Net Zero

We live in a time when the world is rapidly changing, and climate and energy crisis is one of our planet’s most critical issues. With emissions from human activity reaching record highs, it is more important than ever to find ways to reduce our environmental impact and protect the future of our planet. In the Paris Agreement of 2015, governments worldwide recognised that any increase in global warming must ideally be limited to not more than 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels.

Eltizam Group, a joint venture between International Holding Company (IHC) and ADNEC and the region’s leading physical asset management company and investor in the built asset environment, has joined a select group of major UAE organisations to support the UAE’s decarbonisation drive in line with its Net Zero by 2050 initiative.

Property is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions; an estimated 30 percent of global carbon emissions come from the real estate sector. By improving the efficiency of our corporate buildings and the portfolio we manage, we can significantly reduce our environmental impact while saving money and improving productivity in the workplace.

We have been on a continuous journey to improve our impact on the environment, the communities we serve and the stakeholders we engage with. Commitment to Net Zero is an opportunity for Eltizam to provide transparency to our stakeholders regarding who we are, what we are doing and where we are going.

“We believe in embedding sustainability into everything we do. By committing to Net Zero, we have committed to stepping up our efforts to combat climate change by measuring and reporting our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions transparently, developing ambitious plans to reduce our carbon footprint and sharing the progress with the authorities and partners to contribute towards the UAE achieving its national Net Zero targets by 2050. We have kickstarted this renewed focus by planning our decarbonisation strategy in 2023,” shared Chris Roberts, Group CEO, Eltizam.

Energy efficiency and sustainability are a top priority for us as both a business and as individuals. That is why we are committed to playing an active role in reducing the impact of our business on the environment. Through strategic energy management initiatives, we will develop and deploy innovative solutions that will help us reduce our reliance on fossil fuels like efficient water and electricity usage, procurement, waste management, travel and logistics, recycling and renewables management.

When it comes to reducing our environmental footprint, we are fully committed to making a difference where we can. However, we also recognise there is a great deal more to be done. That’s why it is crucial for businesses like ourselves to collaborate and learn from each other to share best practices and implement solutions that can make a real impact locally and globally.

At Eltizam, we’re on a digital transformation journey, working to connect the world of IT with operational technology (OT) and create a feedback loop to make decisions in an automated way. While digitalisation provides us with new ways to interact with our customers, there are many challenges associated with the implementation. We understand that to address these challenges effectively; we will need to work closely with our partners across the industry.

Eltizam is committed to contributing to our decarbonisation goals and creating a more sustainable future and will continue to explore and develop ways to minimise our impact on the natural environment while meeting our customers’ changing needs.
